The game world exists of twelve planets which are mostly landscapes (e.g. desert). As a player you can create eight chars all together (two per server) which enable you to explore the game world.

A character is male or female and belongs to one of ten species. You can learn one of eleven different professions. During the game you can populate the planets, build houses and items, collect decorative items, complete missions and fight monsters or other player in the PvP mode.

The goal is to make your character stronger which is possible through Experience points, badges and the game currency SWG Credits. This enables you to successfully level your character until level 90. It doesn’t matter if you are a head hunter, commando, entertainer, Jedi, medic, officer, smuggler, spy, trader, politician or pilot – Star Wars Galaxies is fun for everyone.
