Eve Online

Eve Online is a MMORPG of the Icelandic company CCP games in which every player can be on the same server at the same time. To use the game you have to pay a fee, however the payment is also possible through the game currency. You receive updates and expansions for free as a subscriber.

The story of EVE Online takes place in the future. After a horrible war on earth over valuable resources the people fled into space. When a power struggle broke out again the journey continued to a wormhole called “EVE”. This lead to an enormous unexplored area which was named “New Eden”. With the destruction of the wormhole the link to earth is cut off. On a few planets, where people start over without earth's help, four different classes are created: the Caldari, the Minmatar, the Amarr and the Gallente – each with different interests and abilities.

Before you begin the game you choose one out of four classes, one of two bloodlines and your gender. Every race has its own spaceship design. There are over 100 different spaceship types, which vary in price, speed, manoeuvrability, cargo hold and configurations. Since the encounters with other players are only possible in space the ships take over the function of cities in EVE Online.

The main content of the game is the war and trade in a world of planets, moons, space stations, asteroid belts and ice fields. The game currency in EVE Online is ISK. You can earn money for example by mining ore, as a scientist, by constructing spaceships, as a fighter, trader or as a transport service for other people. A special feature of EVE Online is that you can’t upgrade your skills by collecting experience points, but through time investment. Since your skill training keeps going you can even advance your skills while you are offline. The highest skill level is 5. The higher the level, the higher your bonus. A further possibility to better your influence and reputation is offered by cooperating with the Alliance or corporations. You can conquer entire galaxies with their help.
